Privacy Policy
Effective September 13, 2026This Privacy Policy explains how Paydown ("the App", "we", "us") handles information when you use our mortgage tracking and repayment calculator application. We've written this policy to be as plain and accurate as possible, and we encourage you to read it before using the App.
We are committed to handling personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) contained in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
Who We Are
Paydown is developed by D.A.C Solutions Australia ("the Developer"), based in Australia.
If you have any questions about this policy or how your information is handled, you can contact us at:
Email: dacsolutionsaustralia@gmail.com
Information We Collect
Paydown is designed to collect as little information as possible. We do not require you to create an account, and we do not collect your name, email address, government ID, income, credit score, or any bank login credentials.
The only information the App holds is what you choose to enter yourself, including:
- Mortgage details — loan principal, interest rate, loan term, payment frequency, start date, property address, and property type/purpose
- Offset account balance, if you choose to enter one
- Payment history — payment amounts, extra payments, interest recorded, and payment dates
- App preferences — display settings (e.g. dark mode), reminder timing, currency preference, and subscription tier
This information is entered manually by you and reflects your own financial records. We do not verify, cross-check, or independently source any of this data.
How Your Information Is Stored
- On your device. All data you enter is stored locally on your device in an on-device database. We do not operate any servers that store or process your data.
- iCloud (via Apple's CloudKit). If iCloud is enabled on your device, the App uses Apple's CloudKit framework to sync your data to your own private iCloud account, so your information is available across your own devices. This sync happens entirely within your personal Apple ID and iCloud storage — the Developer has no access to this data, at any point.
- If iCloud is turned off on your device, your data remains local to that device only and is not synced anywhere.
Who We Share Information With
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.
The only parties involved in handling any data are:
- Apple (iCloud / CloudKit) — if you have iCloud enabled, your data is synced through Apple's infrastructure under your own Apple ID. This is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy, not by us.
- Apple (App Store / StoreKit) — if you subscribe to Paydown Pro, your subscription purchase and billing are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never receive or store your payment card details, and Apple does not share your payment information with us.
We do not use any analytics tools, crash reporting services, advertising networks, or tracking technologies. The App makes no network calls to any server operated by us, and contains no third-party SDKs beyond Apple's own frameworks.
Device Permissions
Paydown may request permission to send local notifications (available to Pro subscribers) to remind you to log a payment. These reminders are scheduled entirely on your device using Apple's local notification system. No reminder content, payment data, or notification data is sent to us or to any third party — the notification never leaves your device.
You can disable notifications at any time in your device's Settings.
Data Retention and Deletion
Because all data is stored locally on your device (and optionally synced to your own iCloud account), you are in full control of your data at all times.
- To delete your data from a device: delete the App from that device. This removes all locally stored data.
- To remove data from iCloud: disable iCloud sync for Paydown in your device's Settings, or manage/delete the data via your iCloud account settings.
We do not retain any copy of your data, as none is ever transmitted to or stored by us.
Please note: because your data is stored locally (and, if enabled, in your own iCloud account), losing your device, resetting it without an iCloud backup, or disabling iCloud sync before a device is lost may result in permanent loss of your data. We recommend keeping iCloud sync enabled if you want your data backed up and available across devices. We are not able to recover data on your behalf, as we have no access to it.
Your Rights
Under the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles, you have rights to access, correct, and request deletion of your personal information. Because Paydown does not collect or hold any personal information on our own systems, these rights are exercised directly by you, within the App or your device's iCloud settings, without needing to contact us.
If you have any questions about exercising these rights, or believe your information has been handled inconsistently with this policy, you can contact us using the details in Section 1, or lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
Children's Privacy
Paydown is not directed at children and is not intended for use by children under the age of 18 without the supervision of a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and since the App does not require an account or collect identifying information, we have no means of collecting or identifying data belonging to a child.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example to reflect changes in the App's functionality or in applicable law. If we make material changes, we will update the "Effective date" above. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
